Business Buyer Diaries: the Reality Before, During, and After
366. Filed the papers, next up is notifying people after the last class, buckle up for the ride
Hello, hello. Well, here we go on Wednesday. So, um, last night got the go ahead from the attorney. Uh, he said we've got the green light and he's filing the bankruptcy papers and it's done. So I asked him, like, well, what do I do about vendors and, uh, corporate and staff and members like managers? He said, well, well, like, do do right by as far it's, to as many as you can, as far as you can, but yet at this point, like you don't have any obligation to ever anyone, so you're free and clear. Um, what happens from now? Like in a couple weeks we'll have hearings and the courts will figure out, like what you know, do they approve the case? Does it pass through? But we're leaps and bounds ahead of anyone else. And if they were to try to like do something to us and make our life painful, but, like we're, we don't have any money right now, personally or professionally, so people can sue us or threaten us and put your left hand into your left pocket and however much cash you have in that pocket is probably more than what we've got now. So best of luck trying to do that.
Speaker 1:Um, I talked with a mentor and he said, like, well, how do we do this, like the bank. In like two days the bank is sending us like certified mail, and one of my staff is opening up certified mail sent to us. I don't know why they're illegally doing that, but the bank is now sending certified mail saying if we don't remedy our business loan by like three days from now, then they have the right to start seizing assets and whatnot. So we have like three days to do something, in which we won't do Um, but I'm sure the staff are figuring out that things are closing up soon. All that to say, though, uh, we're filed, we're we're clean on that front. We'll have hearings in a few weeks, I suppose.
Speaker 1:Um, but yeah, the mentor said like don't allow for a toxic environment unless I want to be like berated, slandered people drag me through the mud, maybe even have like a news story written about me. The recommendation they have heard other people who've shut down a business sometimes well, sometimes poorly is after the last class on saturday, do like a mass email to all the members saying thank you, today was our last class. Thank you for your patronage. We wish you the best. Just something that does not allow for a lead up of toxicity. Take down the Facebook group, where people will just vent and throw our name into the trash pile. Delete the company business Facebook page, where people can start posting just trash and garbage about each other or about the business or about staff or vendors, where people are just going to spew hate.
Speaker 1:The election is in like three or like six days, so people are already emotionally on edge and companies are doing weird stuff with like employment numbers and stats. Oh, and companies are doing weird stuff with like employment numbers and stats, and so, anyhow, all that to say like don't allow for a toxic environment to blow up and explode and to create just pain for people. So they recommended close the business page. Uh, delete the members only page. Uh, put my Facebook on snooze. Uh, I'm sure my number is going to get broadcasted out.
Speaker 1:So don't take calls from random numbers, don't take emails from random numbers. Just put myself on unfindable for the next three months, and that's probably a good idea. Actually, I've been getting like two calls a day from the bank. I'll probably just give my heads up what our plan is. We're out of town this week. We're hanging out with family, so I'll probably have someone go in and put up a sign up Wednesday afternoon, um, or sorry, saturday afternoon, um, what else? What else? So, now that the email basically be unreachable, because I don't need people to throw toxic attitudes or behaviors at me. That's not beneficial for anyone, um, but yeah, we're filed, we're good to go, so buckle up.
Speaker 1:The next little while is going to be interesting, um, and for what it's worth, um, we're closing the business. This is a personal bankruptcy, so anyone can come at us for what they want and they will get probably get more money digging under the sofa than you will from us, because we've got nothing. So we're going to have a good attitude about it. We're going to win the day, going to go work the day job and spend time with family, because, heck, even five years from now, the members won't know me. The because, heck, even five years from now, the members won't know me, the staff won't know me, the bank won't know me. My credit score will recover, my family is going to know me, my family is going to care about me, and so I'm going to invest my time and my energy where there is a return. So that's where we're at, that's where we're going. It's rock and roll.
